The All Important Basics

When it comes to learning the cooking basics of anything.... the golden rule is to always use the KISS method. "KEEP IT SIMPLE SILLY"

Before you can learn to cook, you should really understand the basic cooking methods

  • steaming
  • frying
  • boiling
  • baking
  • ... and so on

Any recipe you read will tell you to use a certain method of cooking so it pays to have an idea of exactly what they're talking about.

Learning these methods however is not just a mater of reading about them. You will, at somepoint need to "jump in the deep end" and actually learn hands on. After all.... no one can learn how to swim by reading a text book!

Man Cannot Live on Bread Alone - But it Sure Tastes Great!


Bread is the most basic of all things in your kitchen cupboard. So why then is that 99% of us don't know how to make fresh bread? It's cheaper and better for you. No preservatives. If you learn how to make bread, you'll never run out!


One reason many of us buy the commercially made bread is obvious. It's easier and more convenient to buy it already made than to go through the effort of making bread.


If you've never considered baking bread before, you're about to learn how to make a basic bread recipe. it really is easier than you think.


Rest assured for a moment... Baking bread is very simple. So no need to freak out. If you can follow directions then you can make bread.




Here's what you'll need to get started...
  • 500gm (1 lb 2oz or 4 cups) flour
  • 1x 7gm sachet of dried yeast
  • 375mls (1.5 cup) tepid or luke warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 60ml (1/4 cup) vegetable oil
  • 2 Tablespoons of dried milk powder
  • Heavy Duty Mini Tin Loaf Pan, 5.75 X 3 Inch


Once you have those basic ingredients you can learn how to bake bread here. Like I said... follow the simple directions and you'll be fine.
